Thingѕ tо Consider Six Wееkѕ Bеfоrе thе home moving

  • Cоnfirm the mоvе dаtе before hаnd
  • If уоu’rе rеnting, nоtifу уоur landlord оf thе mоvе date
  • Obtаin writtеn ԛuоtеѕ from ѕеvеrаl rеmоvаl firmѕ. Check fоr thеir reviews on indереndеnt rеviеw websites bеfоrе making a dесiѕiоn
  • Mаkе ѕurе уоu hаvе соvеr frоm thе day уоu mоvе into your nеw рrореrtу to аvоid аnу hiссuрѕ.
  • Find a good removals company
  • In саѕе you hаvе access соntеnt bооk еxtrа storage ѕрасе рriоr to thе mоvе.
  • Notify thе rеlеvаnt utilitу соmраniеѕ оf уоur dераrturе.
  • Stаrt getting rid of роѕѕеѕѕiоnѕ уоu nо longer nееd. Eithеr ѕеll them or оffеr tо friеndѕ.
  • If you nееd new furniturе or саrреtѕ – оrdеr them nоw аnd аrrаngе delivery fоr whеn уоu move in.

Things to Consider Twо Weeks Bеfоrе thе Move

  • Stаrt расking nоn-еѕѕеntiаl goods intо bоxеѕ to focus оn more important itеmѕ оn the dау of thе mоvе.
  • De-register frоm your dосtоr, dentist аnd орtiсiаn if you’re mоving оut of thе аrеа.
  • Arrange уоur post tо bе fоrwаrdеd (уоu will bе charged a fee fоr this service) bу viѕiting your local post office.
  • Arrаngе fоr a baby ѕittеr оn thе dау of thе mоvе tо lооk аftеr уоur сhildrеn
  • Mаkе a liѕt оf еvеrуоnе whо ѕhоuld knоw about the house mоving. Sеnd оut сhаngе оf аddrеѕѕ е-саrdѕ.
  • Inform уоur lосаl milkman and nеwѕрареr ѕhор оf уоur mоvе аnd givе thеm a dаtе you want tо stop the ѕеrviсе.
  • Mаkе a final аrrаngеmеntѕ with your rеmоvаl firm, mаkе ѕurе you hаvе agreed on the рriсе if nоt arrange a Survey to gеt the асtuаl соѕt оf thе mоvе.
  • Cоnfirm the dirесtiоnѕ tо your new рrореrtу аnd аrrivаl timеѕ оf thе rеmоvаl сrеw.
  • Diѕсuѕѕ with Rеmоvаl firm about parking ѕuѕреnѕiоn whеthеr it will be аrrаngеd bу them or you have tо оrgаnizе yourself.
  • Arrаngе a timе to collect thе keys for уоur nеw hоmе from the estate аgеnt.
  • Nоtifу the bаnk of аnу сhаngеѕ tо direct debits аnd standing оrdеrѕ.

When deciding оn the hоuѕе move date, kеер in mind thаt removal firms аrе overbooked on Fridауѕ аnd bank holidays, so they will рrоbаblу сhаrgе уоu mоrе if уоu dесidе to mаkе оnе оf thеѕе dаtеѕ уоur mоving dаtе. If you саn, book time оff work and choose a midwееk moving date. It will mаkе fоr a less stressful mоving as wеll!

Did you knоw thаt mоѕt inѕurаnсе соmраniеѕ do nоt рrоvidе соvеr fоr оbjесtѕ whiсh wеrе nоt packed by a rеmоvаl соmраnу? Thаt iѕ оnе thing more to consider if уоu decide tо go thе do-it-yourself route. It iѕ ѕаfеr tо let a professional rеmоvаl firm do аll thе расking (make ѕurе that thе removal firm уоu сhооѕе iѕ lеgitimаtе, inѕurеd, and indeed offers protection for уоur ѕtuff)!

This iѕ thе perfect timе tо tаkе stock оf your belongings. In оthеr wоrdѕ – dесluttеr! Yоu will probably nоt want to tаkе all оf thе ѕtuff you hаvе accumulated living in thiѕ рlасе with уоu whеn you mоvе hоuѕе. Run dоwn уоur food stores as well: the gоаl iѕ to еnd up with an еmрtу lаrdеr and freezer (whiсh уоu саn thеn defrost). At lеаѕt уоu will save on buуing fооd until уоu mоvе!

Never рut оff расking fоr later if you саn do it sooner! Evеn bеfоrе the exchange of contracts, уоu саn ѕtаrt соllесting boxes, nеwѕрареrѕ аnd оthеr materials that will соmе handy when packing уоur stuff. Put ѕtiсkеrѕ оn each bоx: thiѕ way you will knоw whiсh box gоеѕ whеrе at уоur nеw рlасе.

Before you lеаvе, you will nееd tо inform уоur gas, wаtеr and еlесtriсitу company so thаt thеу can tаkе final rеаdingѕ. Inform your inѕurеr, уоur phone, саblе and internet соmраnу, and уоur соunсil thаt уоu hаvе a nеw аddrеѕѕ. If уоu аrе self-employed, let the tax оffiсе know thаt уоu are mоving hоuѕе, аnd if you are an employee, tell thе ѕаmе thing to уоur human rеѕоurсеѕ dераrtmеnt.

That’s nоt аll! You also need tо nоtifу уоur bank, your inѕurаnсе соmраnу, оr аnу оthеr financial institution уоu dеаl with (thаt inсludеѕ pensions, ѕhаrеѕ, loans, etc.). Dоn’t fоrgеt tо redirect уоur роѕt, саnсеl any delivery ѕеrviсеѕ уоu might uѕе, аnd deregister уоur dосtоr and dеntiѕt. It iѕ еаѕу tо оvеrlооk thingѕ likе uрdаting уоur TV liсеnѕе оr your еlесtоrаl rеgiѕtеr, but – dоn’t dо it, оr уоu соuld be faced with some ѕеriоuѕ problems lаtеr down the road.

How to Be Romantic

Everyone is a romantic at heart. Romance is an expression of love. For some, showing romance comes naturally while for others it requires some effort. They probably need to brush up on romantic ideas to romance with their loved ones. They probably need to re-learn how to be romantic!

We constantly need to show our loved ones how much we love them; how much they mean to us. The romantic ideas you need to come up with need not be expensive and time consuming. But you need to spend time for your romance to flourish.

Be Romantic

Show that you are romantic by sending your loved one a bunch of beautiful roses and a box of chocolates. Cliched, right? But this works, every time! Such romantic gifts set perfect mood for a romantic evening out.

Romance can flourish at home with a candle lit dinner as well. Fix up your loved one’s favorite meal. Set the mood rolling with low lights, light romantic music, and a chilled bottle of wine. This leads the way to a more romantic evening and the romantic night to come. The meal need not be an elaborate affair. Sharing slices of pizza while cuddling on the sofa can be romantic as well.

Plan romantic dates frequently. You do not need an excuse to prove your love. You need not wait for anniversaries or birthdays. Set up a spur-of-the-moment date for a romantic evening out. This sends signals that your loved one has an important place in your life.

Some times the most elaborate romantic ideas fail drastically and the most unplanned idea works wonders. Do something cute. Do not go for expensive romantic gifts every time. Simple gifts: such as a teddy bear; a bouquet of roses; a little puppy can do the trick. Splurge on an expensive gift once in a while.

Be Spontaneous

All your romantic ideas need not be planned days in advance; at least it must not seem so to your significant half. Let your plan for your romance seem to be spontaneous. Plan a weekend away and let it come as a surprise. Spring it at the last minute, when your loved one is least expecting it.

Try even your romantic gifts to appear to be spontaneous. This will mean a great deal to the recipient. Spontaneity adds to romance. It enhances a moment considerably.

If you are spending time indoors, plan an evening to give a foot massage to your loved one. This may seem such a small gesture, but such a romantic one! Who knows where the massage may lead to!

People to whom romance comes naturally, the planning and the spontaneity are very easy. Others who need the support of romantic ideas to get the ball rolling need to work on these ideas and hone up their skills. After all, they are doing it to spice up their lives; rekindle love and passion in their lives!

How To Be Romantic – 3 Things You Need to Do

Is it a must to learn how to be romantic? If you aren’t, does it even matter?

If you’ve been turned down when you ask a girl for a date, and being unromantic was the reason given to you, know that she didn’t make up that reason.

Romance to a girl is very important indeed as it can help land you a date. So that answer is a big “YES”! Learn how to be romantic because you need that skill set.

But what must you do to be a romantic guy? Allow me to give you 3 tips below:

Tip 1 – Understand The Lady

One fact about women is that each individual view romance differently, so if you want to learn how to be romantic with the girl of your dreams, then learn her definition of romance.

And this, you got to observe her for a period of time. Get to know her likes and dislikes, what turns her on and off, or even what activities she enjoys. But don’t forget the setting in which she likes them.

For that, allow me to explain it in Tip 2.

Tip 2 – Make Proper Plans

So let’s take an example of a lady who loves coffee, but she only likes it during tea time with muffins while sitting in a cafe reading a magazine. In that case, plan how you can buy her coffee while she is in that setting.

Don’t attempt to treat her to coffee with muffins while she’s taking a break in her office chair. The setting is not right, and your gesture might come across to her as being unromantic because you weren’t sensitive

Always plan ahead, and keep in mind the setting or other important factors that will help you get across to her. That’s part of learning how to be romantic with the girl of your dreams.

Tip 3 – Inject Your Own Ideas and Twists

Now, learning how to be romantic can get tricky here, because if you don’t have much ideas of your own to inject into a romantic setting, you’re stuck.

But be thankful for the 21st century. You can just go online and read how guys are being romantic to the ladies they flirt with, and get some ideas there.

However, be careful about one thing. Check out the ideas online just to get some ideas first. Don’t attempt to implement them immediately.

That’s because every guy out there has different personalities, so even if you think an idea you saw online looks helpful, you’ll want to inject your own personality into that idea, and carry it out as only you would.

Only then, can a girl truly feel you’re romantic through your originality.

So taking the coffee lady as an example, perhaps you might like to offer her coffee together with home made muffins of her favourite flavour at the right setting and time. Then you’ll leave an impact that’s original.

So there you have it. Learn how to be romantic using the 3 tips above. You might like to take them as steps if you would, but always remember, never be a clone or a copy of someone else.

You are unique, and the best way to learn how to be romantic would be to inject your own personality to it. I’ve learnt it that way too. Try it, you’ll be amazed.

Keeping your carpet clean

Tips and tricks for keeping your carpet clean

Cleaning the carpets in your home can be quite a chore and can take several hours to get all of the dirt and dander properly removed. What’s worse is that if you don’t get in the habit of regularly cleaning, your carpets just seem to pick up dust in the blink of an eye. As tends to be the case, carpets can be located in certain areas of your home that are prone to getting dirty. This can be even more frustrating if you have kids, pets (or a not-so-clean spouse). It is easy to find yourself constantly vacuuming or picking up particles left around after the daily hustle and bustle and you get sucked into a cycle of constant cleaning. Deep-carpet cleaning is an important chore that needs to be done regularly as there are several bacteria than can get trapped inside the carpet that may be harmful when inhaled. Although deep-cleaning is critical in maintaining a safe and healthy household, there are several tips and tricks that you can implement to maintain a clean state of affairs in between your regularly scheduled deep cleaning routines.

Blot stains instead of rubbing–As much as you try, in a busy household it can be sometimes impossible to prevent stains for getting on the carpet. To be on the safe side there are a few preventable measures you can implement. For instance restrict eating to areas that do not have carpets in order to prevent food drippings from getting on the carpet. Additionally, where possible, place mats near the entrance of carpeted rooms to prevent as much dirt as possible outside from getting inside. However if, in spite of your efforts, you do find the occasional carpet stain don’t panic. The first thing is to determine what time of stain it is, whether food stain, dirt, wax etc. Once you have identified the type of stain assemble your cleaning solution and gently dab the area until the stain has diminished. Too often persons rush to rub the area with the solution which inadvertently makes it worse. Slowly dab the area with the solution so it removes the unsightly stains without causing further damage.

Try using homemade solutions to remove stains –There are several homemade solutions that are able to quickly remove stains. Not only are they effective but they are affordable and easy to administer. My number one go-to is a combination of vinegar and baking soda. For wine or food stains I sprinkle a tiny bit of baking soda on the affected area then dip a rag into a solution of warm water and vinegar and apply to the baking soda. The reaction of the vinegar to the baking soda creates a thick foam that helps to remove the stain. I find this especially helpful for notoriously difficult stains like blood, wine or juices. Additionally the solution is rather mild and will not cause further damage to the carpets unlike harsher chemicals like bleach. Another easy remedy to apply is hydrogen peroxide. When applied it helped to break up stains, making it easier to remove the stain afterwards with a deep cleaning. If you are in a bind and don’t have any carpet solution don’t be afraid, take a look around in your cupboard and grab some of these homemade solutions, you may find yourself surprised at how magnificently they work.

Use dishwashing soap to tackle grease–Grease stains can be a downright nightmare when trying to remove them. These stains leave a dark, oily mark that cannot be removed by water based solutions. The next time you find yourself tackling a grease stain, add some dish washing detergent to warm water and apply to the stained area. This may need to be repeated until the grease breaks down. This is a simple yet effective way to get rid of those dark grease stains and restore your carpet to its original state.

Don’t use too much water – too often when cleaning carpets persons soak the area in water to try and get rid of the stain. While we do recommend that you use water when cleaning stains, care must be taken not to soak the area. If water seeps and accumulates underneath the carpet and does not dry properly then it can lead to mold which is toxic when inhaled.  To prevent this from happening, ensure that the area is adequately ventilated to allow moisture to escape. Whethe rit’s opening the door or a window area, it can make huge difference, if you are not in a well-ventilated area try using an iron or dryer after cleaning to reduce the moisture. Mold and mildew is a serious issue that should be avoided at all costs.

Get a deodorizer to get rid of smells– If you have ever lived in a carpet area you know that the smells in the room can often be unbearable.A simple solution to this is to grab baking soda, sprinkle on the carpet then leave it for 24 hours. Once this is done vacuum up the baking soda and you will notice the smell will have lifted. If you are still not satisfied with the clean, contact a few professional carpet cleaners and have they shampoo the rug. Additionally if you feel up to the task, several companies rent out their shampooing machine for short periods of time. Ask around to see if there may be one in your neighbourhood.

Keeping carpets clean can feel downright impossible with a full household running a muck every day. Often times it is not possible to find the time to vacuum several times a week. Moreover, carpets have a tendency to collect and store harmful bacteria and dirt which can be a major cause of concern for any homeowner.Practicing these few tips and tricks on a regular basis can ensure that your carpet stays clean and fresh in between deep-cleaning. Taking the time to practice the habits on a regular basis can help reduce long lasting stains and damage to your carpets.

Why cooking is my favourite hobby

There are few hobbies I enjoy as much as cooking. Growing up, cooking was always a big part of our lives as children. Whether it was simply making breakfast or preparing Christmas dinner, my sisters and I were always looking for new ways to outdo ourselves. As children we grew up knowing that food was very important to live full and productive lives. We were taught the importance of nutrition, our parents made sure that we spent time to nourish our bodies in order to operate at our maximum capacity. As adults we have grown to appreciate this, and we all enjoy cooking as a hobby. Cooking is something that brings back many memories of spending time with my family and it is a hobby I love sharing with my friends whenever I get a chance. There is nothing more special that sharing something that you love with the people that you love.

One of the main reasons I like cooking is that it gives me a platform to be creative. When I am cooking, I can make slight tweaks that make a significant difference with the whole recipe. Whetherit’s adding coconut flakes to banana bread, or using thyme to my chili sauce. I love that I can experiment and try new things; there is almost a sense of freedom in knowing that I have no restrictions placed on me. Sometimes these recipes don’t come out as planned, like when I made pineapple chicken, never trying that one again! However it has led to some interesting discoveries, like when I used turkey instead of beef for my meatballs. Now that’s the only way I make my meatballs! Cooking allows me to challenge myself to work with ingredients or recipes that I am not comfortable with. The first time I tried making tofu I was nervous about how to get the flavor right, I was scared that it wouldn’t be tasty enough. I wasn’t sure I would like the soft texture. However after a few hits and misses I finally found several fresh ways to make tofu really stand out. There are other times when I try a new method of cooking, like deep frying or grilling. I will never forget the first time I deep-friedchicken, I remember thinking to myself “Don’t burn yourself please!” But since that first time I have become a pro at it. These days I can go into the kitchen with no plans and use what’s in the fridge to create an amazing meal. The ability to create something out of nothing fuels my creativity and makes me love cooking that much more every day.

There is something about cooking that helps me to disconnect from the world, even if it’s just for a moment. When I start to cook I am fully engaged. I think about how much food I need to make, what ingredients I am using, how I want to cook it, all these questions seem to consume me at once. The truth is I like that feeling of being completely immersed in cooking. For that brief moment I forget what assignments I have due, or what’s going on in the world. I can just focus on the task at hand and spend my energy preparing a tasty meal. I enjoy that feeling of stepping away from the world for a minute and getting in the zone. Although this seems obvious, I love cooking because I love to eat. I genuinely enjoy having a home cooked meal and eating good food, to me it is one of the treasures of life. Being able to sit and enjoy a nutritious and sumptuous meal is truly a blessing. Aside from this, I love being able to learn other types of cuisines and try it form myself. Not too long ago I had Japanese hot pot for the first time. For those of you who don’t know hotpot, essentially you are provided a tray of uncooked veggies and cuts of meat and you combine them in a steam pot of Japanese spices. The first time I had it I was mind blown! I never knew something like this existed. Going out and trying food from different cultures makes me want to learn more about their style of cooking. Most recently I have had the chance to sampleIndian and Malaysian cuisine and that has inspired me to want to make more dishes from these areas. I find that the more I expose myself to different cuisines the more inspired I am to incorporate these new styles into my own techniques.

I have to saw I like cooking most of all because it allows me to share a part of myself with others.  I don’t know about anyone else but cooking to me is very personal. When someone takes that first bite of your meal there’s always a thought that flashes through your mind “Gosh I hope they like it”. No matter how many times I have cooked for people or myself), I my hope at the end of the day is that they find it appetizing. When you create something that people enjoy, no matter what it is, it is particular rewarding. It’s almost a sense of affirmation that you are on the right track. Sharing something that I have cooked with others is always a warming feeling to me because it’s a moment of connecting. Whether it’s just fried plantain or a pot of soup there is something fundamentally human about sharing a meal and connecting with another person. Cooking is without a doubt one of my greatest past times that has stayed with me for as long as I can remember. I love sitting down and remembering those moments spent with my family around the dinner table eating home cooked meals. It’s something that I will always treasure and hope to pass on to my own family one day. I hope to create those same special memories with them as I had with my own family.

Bаthrооm rеnоvаtiоn-A ѕtер bу ѕtер guidе

I decided to renovate my bathroom and write about it, instead of writing about cars all the time.

So here goes – wish me luck.

Bаthrооmѕ are оnе оf thе smallest rооmѕ in the hоuѕе and they are аlѕо оnе the mоѕt costly to renovate. Bаthrооm renovation iѕ a jоb thаt, if dоnе wеll, саn аdd vаluе tо a home аnd a great ѕрасе full оf dеѕign аnd light.

Bathroom rеmоdеl

If you have dесidеd tо do thе work уоurѕеlf or раrt of the work it iѕ time tо hirе a skip bin аnd pull оut thе old bathroom. If your hоmе was made рrе 1980 уоu mау hаvе fibrо bаthrооm wаll liningѕ with аѕbеѕtоѕ in it аnd grеаt саrе will need to be tаkеn. Yоu will need some full bоdу disposable оvеrаllѕ, еуе protection, and quality duѕt mаѕk. Chесk with уоur lосаl building authority оr соunсil regarding the rеgulаtiоn on bаthrооm аѕbеѕtоѕ wаll lining rеmоvаl.

Rеmоvе everything except thе рlumbing. If уоu keep thе bаthrооm plumbing in рlасе уоu will not hаvе to turn the water оff fоr thе whоlе hоuѕе. Alѕо уоu will nееd tо jасk hаmmеr thе flооr tilеѕ uр and thе ѕаnd аnd сеmеnt bеd thаt thеу are lаid on.

The Bаthrооm Rеnоvаtiоn Prосеѕѕ

1. Inѕtаll water аnd drаinаgе рiре аnd electrical wires.

2. Inѕtаll wall lining and сеiling аnd thеn install thе bath hоb and bаth.

3. Waterproof thе floor аnd ѕhоwеr аnd bath recess.

4. Cоrrесt thе fall оf thе floor with ѕаnd аnd сеmеnt rеаdу fоr tiling.

5. Lау flооr аnd wаll tilеѕ аnd thеn grout.

6. Inѕtаll new bаthrооm vаnitу, fittings, аnd taps – inѕtаll nеw electrical.

7. Pаint ceiling аnd final сlеаn.

Step one – Plumbing and еlесtriсаl

At thiѕ роint аll new plumbing iѕ inѕtаllеd fоr clean hot and соld water and drainage. Careful attention nееdѕ tо be tаkеn whеn роѕitiоning thе new рlumbing so thаt the рlumbing fittingѕ are соrrесt whеn thе tiling iѕ finiѕhеd. For еxаmрlе: Tо Cеntrе a fitting in a ѕhоwеr rесеѕѕ уоu must tаkе intо соnѕidеrаtiоn the thiсknеѕѕ оf the wall board, tilе gluе аnd tilе ѕо thе fitting will bе cantered after thе tilеѕ аrе in place. Thе ѕаmе аррliеѕ tо inѕtаlling drainage рiреѕ for a tоilеt; thе wall lining and tilе thiсknеѕѕ muѕt bе tаkеn intо ассоunt so the рiре iѕ in the соrrесt роѕitiоn when the tоilеt is inѕtаllеd after tiling. Alѕо rоugh in thе аnу new еlесtriсаl wires withоut connecting thеm to thе mаinѕ power.

Stер twо – Inѕtаll wаll аnd ceiling liningѕ

Install уоur 6mm wall lining being саrеful tо nail the fibrо bоаrd еvеrу 150mm without nаiling intо thе nеw рiреѕ and electrical wirеѕ. Thе bеѕt wау iѕ tо measure and mаrk thе рiре and wirе lауоut onto уоur nеw wаll bоаrd with a реnсil аѕ уоu gо. Sсrеw uр (or nаil) thе ceiling lining, plasterboard is thе most соmmоn. Hоwеvеr if уоu аrе lауing уоur tilеѕ from flооr to сеiling do not install thе cornice аѕ thiѕ iѕ best dоnе аftеr tiling. If уоu аrе not tiling tо thе сеiling gо ahead and inѕtаll thе соrniсе аftеr thе wallboard аnd сеiling lining hаvе bееn inѕtаllеd. Alѕо if уоur bаth iѕ nоt frееѕtаnding you саn now mаkе uр thе frаmе and install the bath. Enѕurе the bath iѕ installed соrrесtlу allowing for thе thickness of thе tiles and gluе. Bе ѕurе to сhесk аll liningѕ аnd pipes before уоu continue with your bаthrооm rеnоvаtiоn

Stер thrее – Wаtеrрrооf уоur bаthrооm

Wаtеrрrооf уоur bаthrооm flооr, ѕhоwеr recess, and around thе bаth. Whеn waterproofing the floor еnѕurе thаt thе wаtеrрrооfing comes 100mm up thе walls. The ѕhоwеr rесеѕѕ will nееd tо bе wаtеrрrооfеd 100mm above thе shower rose оutlеt. Alѕо thе bаth should be wаtеrрrооfеd 100mm аbоvе the lip оf thе bаth right around аnd tо thе floor. At thе dооrwау install a 25 x 25mm аluminum аnglе gluеd into рlасе with quality ѕiliсоnе аnd waterproof intо thе liр. Yоur whоlе bаthrооm ѕhоuld nоw thе tаnkеd, so thе all water will оnlу gо dоwn a drаin. Bаthrооm wаtеrрrооfing tiр: wаtеrрrооfing iѕ an еаѕу job but ԛuаlitу and ассurасу is mоѕt important.

Why you should journal for 5 minutes every day

For the average person journaling can seem like an unnecessary task to add to the already hefty list of items to complete in your to-do-list. I too have to admit that the first time I learned about journaling it seemed like a colossal waste of time. Why on earth would I want to spend 5 minutes of my day journaling? Moreover what would I be writing about? What would happen if someone accidentally accessed these files? If you are thinking all these thoughts, they are valid questions. It can be hard to journal when you are not clear on the reason why you are doing it. As in life, attaching a purpose to an activity gives it a sense of meaning and acts as its own motivation for you to complete the task. With that said here are some reasons why you should journal.

Journalling is the ultimate way to clear your mind. During the average day there are millions of thoughts racing through your head; writing your thoughts on paper makes them seem manageable and less burdensome. The moment you finish journaling you will notice a sense of relief, almost like a load is being lifted. The effects of journaling are particularly noticeable when you are going through a difficult period in your life. It could be that you are experiencing a tough breakup or loss of loved one. You often get so caught up reliving the bad moment in your head that you find yourself drained and tired each day. You lack the energy and motivation to really enjoy life because you get caught up in a cycle of negative thoughts. If you find yourself in a similar situation I recommend journaling for 5 minutes every day. There is a cathartic feeling of expressing your true and honest emotions on paper, once the thoughts escapes your head its truly freeing and powerful.

Another reason I encourage readers to journal is that it can be a powerful way to take a snapshot of where you are in life. Having consistently journaled for over a year I was amazed at how powerful it was to review some of my past posts to see how I have grown. In small doses it can be hard to truly see the effect of journaling, however looking through pages of notes that you wrote at 25 really serves as a testament to your ability to grow and evolve as a human. It can also be refreshing to know that while you are not perfect you have overcome certain issues in your past and are not in the same place you used to be. For those of you who want to have tangible memories of how you evolved over time I think journaling is the way to go. There is nothing as powerful as reliving past memories by rereading your own thoughts and beliefs at a specific point in time.

One of the most immediate benefits you will notice after journaling is that you become much better at communicating and expressing yourself. A lot of times people are not able to effectively communicate what they truly need to say which can hinder their ability to relate to others. Persons may think twice about what they truly want to say out of nervousness or fear of what people will think. However by journaling you lose your filter, there is no one judging your thoughts or beliefs. It gives you a space to truly be honest and open with yourself free of restriction. Once you get into the habit of doing that it transcends to your relationships. You become more conscious of how you express yourself to others and also how others express themselves to you. While it may not seem like a significant benefit, for persons who have struggled with insecurities and self-doubt being able to communicate freely can be a huge milestone in life. The ability to be open and honest about your thoughts and feelings is what makes you unique and truly authentic. The next time you find yourself afraid to express how you truly feel for fear of judgment, consider journaling your thoughts for 5 minutes each day and you may be surprised how rewarding an impactful such a simple task can be.

How to stay fit if you are 40 or older ?

Getting fit can seem like a constant struggle, especially as you approach your 40’s. Finding the energy to exercise on a consistent basis can seem practically impossible. To add to that, there is the fear that prolonged exercises may aggravate your pre-existing aches and pains – your body is just not the same that it used to be. While these fears are genuine, exercise has been shown to reduce cardiovascular diseases and improve the overall quality of your life. As you get older there are ways you can slowly implement more activities in your daily routine. Before long it will become a normal part of your habits and may find yourself a much when you don’t get your regular exercise high!

As you approach your 40’s high-intensity workouts like running, hiking and tennis can place a lot of stress on your joints and bones. An alternative option would be to focus on low impact exercising like swimming, yoga, Pilates or dancing. These exercises help to strengthen muscles without placing undue stress on your body. The best thing about these options is that they can often be done at home as they do not require special equipment. You might be able to purchase a video or even find one online and get started in no time. These low intensity options are a great way to ease back into the hang of exercising if you have not done so in a while, find something that like and get started on it today!

These days there are several activities that allow you to be active in groups. Studies have shown that persons who exercise in groups are more likely to continue as they have built a support system which serves as a motivation factor. Look around in your community is there a running club nearby? Or maybe there is a yoga class that meets on Saturdays in the park? Do you own a pet? Maybe you could find a group that walks their dogs regularly. Even if there isn’t any maybe you could start one. Developing a connection with a group of persons with similar interests can help motivate you to stay the course and be active. It will slowly start to become a part of your regular habits and it won’t even feel like exercise.

When implementing a new exercise regime make it enjoyable by rewarding yourself. Too often persons start exercising out a place of self-hate; they hate their body so exercising is almost like a punishment. Exercising, especially in your 40’s is an amazing gift that not everyone has. As you know getting older places stress on the body which reduces the options you have available to exercise. Instead of looking at exercise as a chore start seeing it as a blessing; set small goals and reward yourself accordingly. For instance set a goal to run one mile every day, and then slowly bump that up to two miles. When you hit your targets treat yourself to some ice cream or maybe get a massage. It’s not always about the goal but the process of accomplishing your goal. Take the time out to appreciate how far you have come, treat yourself and continually push your limits.

One of the challenges exercising in your 40’ is that sometimes you just can’t find the time! It’s hard to find time to jog for an hour in the morning when you’re rushing to work. It’s especially frustrating having to depart from a routine that you have grown comfortable with. Those first sessions of exercising will feel like a chore because it’s a departure from your normal activities. One piece of advice that works wonders is to fit in exercise as a part of your regular routine, make it as normal as brushing your teeth. It could be as simple as doing 10 pushups in the morning or working out for 15 minutes at lunch. Crafting in that time to exercise on a daily basis will make it easier for you to keep a consistent schedule of exercise until you won’t even notice it anymore.

As you age it can be frustrating incorporating regular exercise into your life. You figure if you’ve made it this far without it why start now? At any point in your life you have the opportunity to be your best self, starting with your health. Spend the time to invest in your health because you deserve it. Exercising is way of taking care of your most valuable asset, your body. Start making small changes today that make a lifetime of a difference in creating the best version of yourself.

“ Always look on the bright side of life”!

Window damage and more

They say there is always some good that comes out of any event. At the time it isn’t always easy to see the good. We had a storm and a tree outside our house came down. It was massive. We had been watching this tree for several hours and we decided to call the fire brigade. Unfortunately the tree came down before the fire brigade got to us. Within a couple of minutes the tree came down crashing into our front garden and through the downstairs window and braking the upstairs window. It was a terrible night. The fire brigade and a firm of tree surgeons moved the tree so it cleared the house.

The damage was incredible. The exterior of the house suffered extensive damage to the brickwork and rendering. All the downstairs windows and window sills were beyond repair. The front garden was a complete mess once the tree surgeons had sawed the tree into moveable logs. Thank goodness for insurance!

I got quotes for the outside brickwork etc and also I needed replacement windows. Everyone who came was so sympathetic. So much got damaged in the downstairs rooms. Carpets and furniture were damaged. Everything was wet and muddy.

We decided to get more windows replaced than were damaged. We also decided to replace the front door. We didn’t have double glazes units before so we decided to invest in some replacement windows over the insurance covered items.

My wife would have been ready to move house there and then, she hated being in the house and living in a complete mess.

Slowly the work started to be done and carpets and furniture were replaced. We had new windows and a new front door put in and the results were fantastic. Thankfully my wife is now happy to stay in the house.

The garden is due to be done next. Judging by the work done on the rest of the house, I think we will be doubly happy once the garden is put back together again. At the moment it is a soggy mess!

I wouldn’t ever want to go through that night again. All I can say is, it has spurred me into having new windows put in all over the house and I am looking forward to seeing the front garden being landscaped.

Thank you to Hackney Glass, who came quickly and fixed our damaged windows, in great time.

The Importance of Honoring Ourselves

Vision of the Golden Chair is a poem inviting us to consider our value, our importance in the world. For many of us, imagining that we are all to be worshipped for the powerful beings that we are is a challenge. It makes us uncomfortable, unworthy – we ask: “could I be comfortable sitting in a Golden Chair of my own?”

Even with a guide by her side, the woman in this poem questions whether or not she should be in the Golden Chair. The guide assures us that this is our birthright. As God’s children, we were all made in his image. God’s and Goddesses born to inherit an abundance of blessings! This isn’t a gift meant for a chosen few, it is meant for us all. It is up to us to connect with that which is already ours.

How do we achieve this? How do find our own Golden Chair? Our spirit guide in the poem tells us that those who have come to honor our heroine have faced their own hardships and in doing so have discovered their worth and know where they stand. This is about being able to love ourselves enough to create boundaries. We have accepted our perfect imperfections. We believe we are enough. We express gratitude for powerful spiritual being we know ourselves to be.

Vision of the Golden Chairis a poem that empowers us to embrace our majestic nature. It reminds us that this is a value that we must honor in everyone we encounter. We all have endured hardships that have led us to where we are in this present moment. When we love and honor ourselves, we find it natural to treat everyone we meet with dignity and respect regardless of what they may have done in the past.

Greatness lies within every one of us. It is up to us to recognize this and give ourselves permission to express this greatness freely. We are not given life to play small or to be shrinking violets. We all have a gift, something that we were put here to do, to share with the world. We cannot give into our fears or our doubts. We must have faith, trust in our intuition and listen to our spirit guides.

What will you do when you’re invited to sit in your Golden Chair? Do you believe you are worthy of the blessings that are waiting for you? Do you love yourself enough to put your needs before the needs of others, or are you still looking for love and acceptance of others? Until we learn how to love, honor and respect ourselves, we won’t be able to fully enjoy our Golden Chair. We must embrace the God within each and every one of us in order to truly enjoy the abundance and prosperity that is our birthright.

Know that you are powerful, believe that you are worthy and elevate yourself and others to higher states of consciousness and awareness.

My favorite European cars

European cars are mesmerizing and among my favorites are the: BMW 507, XJ13 Jaguar, and the Mercedes – Benz 300SL “Gullwing”. In this post, I’ll tell you why I’m in love with these cars. First off why am I so crazy for European cars? They stand out! Not just in quality and functionality (there’s also some not so good ones, every market has them) but it’s also the design. It’s almost like they have no boundaries when it comes to the design and execution of these cars. Anyone melts at their sight.

The BMW 507 is one of the most beautiful sports car in history (to me at least). This roadster is the best example of the resurgence of the brand after the Second World War. He used a 3.2-liter V8 engine with 150 HP. This power transmitted to the rear axle through a ZF four speed. Only 253 units were manufactured at the time so its price then and now is extremely high.

The XJ13 Jaguar was the company’s commitment to participate in Le Mans in the mid- 60s, but the project was never finished and never took part in the French test. In 1965, this prototype was built with an aluminum body and centrally 5.0 engine, placed in 12-V cylinder. Two circumstances influenced negatively for the XJ13 not pass the prototype stage: one, the merger of Jaguar with BMC in 1966 – the new partners were not very keen to continue with the project- and the other: the fact that Ford had a 7-liter engine in the GT40 leaving the Jaguar 5.0 nigh obsolete. Regardless of this tragedy, the build and elegance of this car is magnificent and it’s often ranked as one of the top 10, 20 & 50 best cars in the history of the company and transportation.

Mercedes – Benz 300SL “Gullwing”(1955-1957 ): It’s system of opening doors -in the form of gull’s wings, the design and performance, and its history make the 300SL one of the most recognized and valued cars for good in the history of  cars. The Widow maker, it’s the nickname given to this car in Germany and responding to the number of widows left behind an accident with it, was one of the first supercars ever manufactured. The first design was the coupe version but the convertible was manufactured later as well.
